The mission of Real Salt Lake Robotics is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
The student council looks to both ensuring the whole school experience of our students by organizing social events as well as looking at how students can become involved in service projects to benefit both the school and the community. The focus is on developing leadership skills in students and on serving the school.
Students currently enrolled in our technology pathway courses have the opportunity to join the Technology Student Association (TSA), an international Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that promotes excellence through development in personal growth, leadership, collaboration, and opportunities in technology, innovation, design, and engineering. TSA chapters focus on the study of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) beyond the classroom and give students the chance to pursue academic challenges among friends while networking with students who have similar interests. Many students find their passion for their future careers through exploration of TSA in high school.
The motto of TSA is “learning to lead in a technical world” and our members embody this statement. Throughout the year, chapter members work on both team and individual competitive events, run meetings led by their local TSA chapter officers elected each year, plan and participate in a community service project of the chapter’s choice, as well as attend conferences on the state and national level. With opportunities for development in both career field necessary soft and hard skills, TSA is something we encourage all of our technology education students to take advantage of.
