Janice Randall’s passion for teaching began at an early age and her 37 years spent as an educator of English, Literature, Writing, History, and Geography have fueled that passion. She firmly believes that teachers must love what they do if they are to be successful. She greatly enjoys working with teenagers, finding it both challenging and immensely rewarding. Ms. Randall has an intense love of reading and writing and believes strongly that growth in this area will help students in all subjects. She has welcomed the opportunities for personal growth in this dynamic and demanding field.
Ms. Randall, a born and bred South African, earned her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Port Elizabeth, South Africa where she majored in English and History and played field hockey for the university. Following her Bachelor of Arts, Ms. Randall completed her Post Graduate Higher Diploma of Education with a focus on English and History and set off on her teaching career.
After teaching in South Africa for 16 years, Ms. Randall left the beautiful city of Cape Town to spend three years teaching in Atlanta, Georgia, combining her love of traveling with her passion for teaching. This sojourn in the States further whet her appetite for travel and she then spent time teaching in the UK, South Carolina, Oregon, and most recently at Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy in Las Vegas where she taught AP Language and Composition and 11th and 12th grade English for 4 years. She has previously worked as head of English and has taught a variety of English classes including a dual college credit writing class. She loves sports and has coached water polo, swimming, field hockey and softball. Ms. Randall fully supports the extracurricular activities at school and believes that involvement in such activities develops leadership skills and empathy in students. She has been the mentor teacher for the Rotary Interact Club and the School Council and currently runs the National Honors Society at RSL and the Yearbook.
Ms. Randall’s hobbies, aside from reading, cooking, and various crafts, focus on traveling and has made three coast-to-coast road trips. Her goal is to visit all the National Parks.
