Eligibility Requirements:

      • Must be a member of UFirst Credit Union (if you're not a member you can join for free)

      • Must be an enrolled student at any accredited University or College

      • Must submit a short essay about "Making a Difference" in which you show UFirst's scholarships committee how you do or plan to make a difference in your community

      • Essays should be between 500 and 1,000 words

Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship

The Balkhi Foundation Higher Education Scholarship seeks to help talented young people make college more attainable through a $1000 scholarship.

Horatio National Scholarships

As one of the nation’s largest college financial aid programs in the country, the Horatio Alger National Scholarship Program is one of the major scholarship programs nationally that specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger Members who, like the Scholars, have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders. 

Eligibility Requirements:

      • Must be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States

      • Must exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)

      • Must demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)

      • Must be involved in co-curricular and community service activities

      • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

      • Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0

      • Be a United States citizen

The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship is a merit-based program that helps students fulfill their dreams of a higher education. The scholarship is named for Gen and Kelly Tanabe, best-selling authors on education, whose generous donations fund this program.

    • Must be 9TH – 12TH Grade high school, college or graduate student

    • Must be a Legal resident of US

BLM Scholarship Foundation College Scholarship

The BLM² Scholarship Foundation program is designed to address the financial needs of minority college students and award outstanding high school graduates who plan to earn a baccalaureate degree from an accredited, four-year college or university with financial assistance.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must plan to attend an accredited college or university within the United States

  • Must be a minority (e.g. African American, Hispanic, Asian or Pacific American or Alaska Native.

  • Must be a graduating high school senior in the year of the award and be a permanent US Citizen and hold a high school Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • Must be enrolled as a full time student during the Fall Academic Semester of the award.

The Fontana Transport Inc. Scholars Program is open to underrepresented, low-income and first-generation college-bound students.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree full-time in transportation, math, science, engineering, architecture, environmental design, pre-med, psychology, or Spanish language/literature

Ford Built Tough Scholarship

Students who are pursuing a two-year or four-year degree in any major are eligible to apply for the Ford Built Tough - $1,000 Scholarship. Applicants must apply online and then visit their local participating Ford Truck dealer for signature and dealer code.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must obtain a Ford Dealer electronic signature to qualify

  • Must be an FFA member

  • Must be a high school senior or a collegiate student

  • Must attend a vocational, two-year or four-year continuation of studies. Any major may apply.

Hatfield Foundation Scholarship

The Hatfield Foundation Scholarship is a program for first-generation college students and provides a $5,000 scholarship along with educational resources and mentoring to recipients.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a graduating high school senior who is applying to 4 year colleges

  • Neither parent holds a bachelor's degree or higher

  • Must be first in family to attend college

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 GPA

  • Must have participated in a college readiness program (like AVID) and taken the SAT and/or ACT

Opportunity Scholarship

The Opportunity Scholarship is a simplified, statewide, achievement-based program that encourages students to complete advanced courses in core subject areas while in high school, aims to make higher education more accessible, and rewards students for preparing academically for college.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must earn a 3.3 cumulative high school GPA

  • Must complete 3 advanced courses (see next question for more details about eligible courses) Complete 1 Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or Concurrent Enrollment (CE) course in each of the core areas of high school graduation: math, science, and language arts

Edwards Lifesciences is offering the Foundation Scholarship Program to high school seniors from Orange County, California, Salt Lake County, Utah, or Puerto Rico who are pursuing bachelor’s degrees in STEM fields.

The Foot Locker Scholar Athletes program honors student-athletes who demonstrate exceptional academic ability and strong leadership skills in sports, in their schools, and within their communities.

  • Must be entering college in the Fall of 2023 as a Freshman at a four-year school for an undergraduate degree

This scholarship competition is designed to recognize students who can demonstrate a solid understanding o financial literacy concepts and are pursuing a post-secondary education either at a university, college, trade school or similar institution of higher learning.

Utah State – Utah State Promise (Available at all USU campuses)

The Utah State Promise is a “last dollar” scholarship, meaning it is applied to your remaining tuition & student body fees after all other aid is applied. What is considered other aid & what order is it applied? First, Federal Pell Grant (FAFSA), and then second, USU will apply other scholarships (e.g., institutional awards, department, Regents, outside/3rd party). After all aid & scholarships are applied, USU pays any remaining balance due.

Requirements:

  • Submit FAFSA & be Pell Grant Eligible

  • Utah resident, US citizen, or eligible non-citizen

  • Be admitted as first-time incoming undergraduate

  • Intend to graduate from USU

  • Renewal for up to 4 years (must remain Pell eligible, good standing-academics, up to full tuition & student body fees)

Southern Utah University (SUU) - Access Utah Promise Scholarship 

Requirements:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Have not received an associate degree or higher postsecondary degree

  • Be a resident of Utah

  • Must demonstrate financial need

  • Accept all other grants, tuition/fee waivers, & scholarships offered to the applicant

  • Maintain and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress

A RECIPIENT MAY RECEIVE SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS UNTIL ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OCCURS:

  • Two years after the initial award

  • A recipient uses the scholarship for four semesters

 Utah Tech University  – Trailblazer Promise Scholarship

State of Utah Scholarships 

The Utah Promise Scholarship is the first-ever statewide needs-based scholarship program in Utah. It is available to recent high school graduates & adult learners at Utah’s public colleges & universities, as well as Utah’s public technical colleges. The Utah Promise Scholarship will cover up to tuition & fees for up to two years. The Trailblazer Promise is automatically awarded at Utah Tech through a completed FAFSA Application to those who qualify. This process happens after the 3rd week of each semester. If you are awarded the Trailblazer Promise, you will receive an email from the Financial Aid Office to your university account. There is no separate application required except a completed FAFSA Application.

Utah Valley University (UVU) – Greenlight Scholarship

Greenlight Scholarship | Financial Aid | Utah Valley University 

This scholarship fills the gap to cover tuition for students who receive the Pell Grant (FAFSA) but may still owe additional tuition. For students who qualify, the cost of a two-year degree will be covered by federal aid and UVU. Your first two years are covered!

  • Eligibility

    • Complete the FAFSA and receive a Pell Grant each year

    • Be a Utah Resident

    • Enrolled on a full-time basis (at least 12 credits)

    • Priority given to first-year and second-year students admitted with a complete financial aid file by May 15

    • Must have attempted fewer than 60 credit hours

  • How to apply

    • Be admitted to UVU

    • Complete the FAFSA & be awarded a Pell Grant by May 15 (to receive first priority)

    • No scholarship application is required. UVU will award the scholarships automatically

  • Example:

    • UVU tuition per semester $2,561

    • Student receives Pell Grant for $1,000

    • Difference: $1,561

    • UVU provides a scholarship for $1,561

Salt Lake Community College -- SLCC Promise

Helps eligible students pay for their education by covering the cost of tuition & fees when federal grants fall short.

    • Take 9 or more credits in Fall & Spring semester or take 6 or more during summer

    • All SLCC students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor
